Almost every web page has footer information at the bottom in one way or the other. HTML5 has introduced the <footer> for this purpose.

The <footer> tag can be used as footer of the page or one or more sections of the page. This tag usually contains information about the author, copyright information and contact information etc.

We can use more than one footer tags on a single page.

Below is a simple example of the use of the <footer> tag:

<footer>
<ul>
<li>Copyright</li>
<li>Sitemap</li>
<li>About Us </li>
<li>Privacy Policy</li>
<li>Contact Us </li>
</ul>
</footer>

The footer element can also be used as article footer:

<article>
Content of the Article
<footer>
Footer information for the article
</footer>
</article>
